Bahamian Rhapsody: Apollo Theater

As part of the Caribbean Week celebrations,  Bahamian Rhapsody: A Festival of Music, Dance, Folklore and Songs was held 1st June at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. Thanks to highly successful networking by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and the The Bahamian Consulate (NYC), the event was a rousing success, and was attended by several hundred Tri-State Bahamians and friends of The Bahamas.

Among the attendees were: Hon. Obie H. Wilchcombe, M.P., The Bahamas Minister of Tourism, and Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO); Hon. Paulette Bethel, Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations; Ed Bethel, Consul General of The Bahamas, and his wife Dawne; Doug Coppi, CEO of Curtain Call Productions; John McCracken, CEO of John McCracken Productions; William Dames, President of the Bahamian American Association (NYC), and Johnny Kemp. The Royal Bahamas Police Force Band commenced the event with a tribute performance for Harlem, and the legendary singers Ronnie Butler and Ralph Munnings performed classic Bahamian hits resulting in standing ovations.
