U.S. Army, killed in action in Fallujah, Iraq.

~ Bahamian Hero Dies in Iraq ~

Army Private First Class Norman Darling, while searching for roadside explosives outside the Iraqi city of Fallujah, was killed in on 29th April, 2004 by a suicide bomber. Private Darling and his fellow soldiers were attached to the Army's Fourth Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, First Armored Division, based in Baumholder, Germany.

According to the Nassau Guardian, Private Darling's father was quoted as saying that his son fulfilled a childhood dream by serving in the U.S. Army: "This was something he really wanted... and he was happy.  He loved it, he was so happy, man, and I was happy for him.  We saw his future looking bright."  Private  Darling, who would have turned 30 in December, was the son of parents Sidney and Madeline Darling and is also survived by his wife Kimberly, daughter Camryn (see photo below), two sisters, and brothers
